The CUET (UG) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate (UG) programs in all central universities in India. The exam is a computer-based test (CBT) and is
conducted in multiple sessions across the country.
The CUET (UG) exam is a multiple-choice question (MCQ) based exam and consists of three sections:
- Section I: Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
- Section II: General Test (GT)
- Section III: Subject-specific Test (SST)
The LPT section consists of two language tests: English and one of the following languages: Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The GT section consists of 60 questions from the following areas:
- General Knowledge
- Logical Reasoning
- Quantitative Aptitude
The SST section consists of 75 questions from the following subjects:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Computer Science
- Economics
- History
- Geography
- Political Science
- Sociology
The CUET (UG) exam is a qualifying exam and the scores obtained in the exam will be used for admission to UG programs in central universities. The weightage of the scores in each section will be decided by the individual universities.
The CUET (UG) exam was first conducted in 2022 and the next exam is scheduled to be held in 2025. The application process for the 2025 exam is currently underway.
